Guiding growth and reflection, rooted in Bristol

Counselling and Supervision for individuals or groups in a natural, private setting.

About me

Hello, I’m Emma and I provide outdoor therapy and supervision in Bristol.

For over 12 years I have worked as a counsellor in universities, supporting students through the ups and downs of academic and personal life. Alongside that, I have also worked in NHS services and with a charity helping people with addiction. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the different challenges people face, especially during times of change and uncertainty.

What I am most passionate about is supporting my clients during times of transition. That could be starting or ending a career, navigating relationships, coping with family changes, or facing loss. These are the moments when life can feel most overwhelming, but also when growth and transformation are possible.

Before I retrained as a counsellor, I worked as a professional photographer, creating documentary stories, commercial projects, and art exhibitions. I even found myself on the set of a feature film or two. That early career taught me about perspective, creativity, and storytelling, skills I now bring into my counselling work.

Outside of my work, I love being outdoors, whether that is swimming in the sea, travelling, or simply walking in nature.

My approach

I take a holistic approach to counselling, which means I will consider all aspects of your life and how they interact. My practice is Integrative Humanistic:

Integrative because I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor them to you. I do not believe in “one size fits all.”

Humanistic because I hold an optimistic view of people. Given the right conditions, we are all capable of growth and change.

Counselling

Therapy with a Human, in a Natural Space

Feeling stuck? Looking for clarity? Wanting to get back to your usual self? Maybe an illness or life event has shaken your sense of who you are. Or perhaps you are simply looking to strengthen your mental fitness.

My role is to help you notice patterns, make connections, and find a fresh perspective. Often, we know in our heads what needs to change, but something holds us back from taking that next step. Together, we will explore what is getting in the way and find a way forward that feels right for you.

I will ask questions to understand the full context of your life, rather than waiting silently for you to lead. I take you seriously while learning to see the world through your perspective. Using what comes up in the here-and-now of our relationship, I will help you name what is just below the surface and explore coping strategies. We will decide together which ones still serve you and which ones do not.

Specialisms

I work with a wide range of issues but have a particular interest in times of transition and change, whether chosen or unexpected. You might find yourself asking: Who am I? Where am I going? What do I really want? Those are big questions, and they are exactly the kind of questions I love to explore with clients.

Supervision

Guilt-Free Time to Think

Supervision is a dedicated space for therapists, educators, health professionals, and creative practitioners to pause and reflect. In many organisations, the culture says, “doing something is better than doing nothing.” But what if that isn’t always true? Supervision offers time to think deeply about complex issues, keeping at the heart the people most impacted by your work and decisions. If your role involves supporting others in distress, you deserve support too.

I see supervision as a chance to pause, take stock, and reconnect with the joy and purpose that drew you to your work in the first place. Whether you loved reflective practice during training or found it challenging but valuable, supervision creates space to process experiences, gain clarity, and restore energy.

Together, we will think about what belongs to you, what belongs to others, and what belongs to the work itself. I will encourage curiosity, creativity, and honesty, helping you look beyond professional silos and see things with fresh eyes.

Supervision with me is about restoring balance, reigniting your passion, and strengthening your practice. It’s a collaborative process designed to support you, so you can continue supporting others with confidence and care.

Qualifications

I am an Accredited Member of BACP, which means I meet their higher professional and ethical standards. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Post Graduate Certificate in Relational Supervision. I am currently studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Psychosexual Studies. I have been a member of BACP since 2013 and I am fully insured to practice counselling and supervision.

My location

I primarily work outdoors in a private woodland space on Leigh Court Estate (reachable on the X4 bus route).

I also have comfortable rooms in South/Central Bristol, at the Centre for Whole Health in Bedminster.
